Project Eats Farmshare @ St. Barnabas Hospital

So, I went to the doctor for a check back in August before we went back to work. I was surprised to find Project Eats operating a Farmshare at St. Barnabas Hospital. They are leasing the rooftop above St. Barnasbas Hospital!

At first the farm share was discounted where they gave you health bucks to use later. This was only if you had diabetes, lived in the community(because its a "food desert"), or used SNAP. Since I live a mere mile away, I signed up. Then two weeks later, they said they ran out of health bucks. I am looking for a place to get fresh greens so I continue to shop there.

Projects Eats: All of the produce is grown in NYC at one of their local farms.  They don't seem to be growing much at the Bronx rooftop farm.

The cost is $15 every week, they asked you to pay $30 upfront. There seem to be a mix up on whether or not you can skip a week.

Produce: They have calaloo (which they called amaranth) tomatoes, micro greens (radish, sunflower, cilantro), collards, turnips, carrots, leeks, radishes, various herbs, sweet peppers, jalapenos. They also grew a great selection of Asian greens especially, soft leafy vegetables: Bok Choy,  Choy Sum, Tatsoi,  Chinese String Beans, and a smaller bok choy.

The only fruit like produce they had husk berries (similar to gooseberries) for a couple of weeks in September.

I usually picked the different varieties of Asian greens, micro greens, turnips and radishes.

I am still harvesting my own collards, tomatoes and peppers.
