Indoor Composting Journey II

So, my indoor composting journey has been going pretty smoothly for the past month and a half .  For my greens, I usually include the skins of bananas, avocado, cucumber, plantains and potatoes. I also include celery, leeks, corn husks, onions, garlic and any other rotting produce that my family wasn't able to eat.  For browns it has been a bit difficult, since I don't read a (physical) newspaper. I add shredded paper towels and some random leaves and twigs. Oh an old soil to balance it out

As, I cut all pieces into the length of my fingers (3-5 inches). I try to have an equal mixture of browns and greens. But I think I have more greens. It is not smelling yet but there was some white mold growing on the top, I wonder if its because I keep the compost covered. When, I just shook up the container, I notice the mold is not through out the container. Also, I try to keep the container moist, so ever so often I pour the extra water on my host plants. I think this is what folks call "compost tea".

Two reasons why I compost: Firstly, this is a super easy way to create organic fertilizers for any plantings. For instance miracle grows has a wide selection of easy to use fertilizers but on of my fellow gardeners said its not organic. (How organic should I be?) In any case it's cheaper to make my one. Secondly, I find pleasure composting knowing that I am decreasing the amount of recyclable things that goes into my garbage.
