Dominios @ Crotona Park: All Visitors must wear mask

Last November, I stopped to capture the early risers waiting for dominos to start. They bring safety, they bring programming: from the mix-match chairs to the blasting music hooked up to the street lamps. This makes a neighborhood, drives the economy. Later on today, La seƱora con Hortacha, arena will pass by by the afternoon the ice cart. This park will be bursting with activity, begun by these two old men passing time. This is what peacekeeping looks likes.

Back in the day when community was tight, spirits were high, the elders sat outside and talk, watched the streets, as they played under the cover of dominos. No, I am not talking in 2019 Pre-Covid-19. I am talking 2000 before the first Bronx rezoning in CD6, late 1990s when the Bronx was not longer burning and residents were transforming lots into gardens, rehabbing deteriorating buildings into housing coops and frequenting the churches along Bathgate ave, Tremont Ave and East 180th street.
