USAC Students
The students at USAC are very friendly. There are a total of about 50 students. 5 or 6 of them attended USAC last semester, and stayed on for another semester. I feel that we look out for each other and we try to make sure that everyone is enjoying their time in CR. There are 2 main roads. One is adjacent to the beach and the other runs more in the center of things. Usually, most students go out to eat and party on paseo del touristas. Here is an example of how the students make sure everyone is enjoying themselves and is safe. After hanging out one night, I was heading home. Two of my friends, were going to continue to party that night but they took 5 minutes out and walked me home, I thought that was very nice of them. Although I have gotten used to walking home late at night, I had never been out past 11.
Something is always going on and they never fail to invited the other students. So I always have a chance to do something interesting. For instance, 1/2 of the students all went to a reggae concert last Friday. It was by this Punteranas group called "fuerza dread". Towards the end of the week, everyone asks each other what are they doing for the weekend, and you pretty much choose what event you want to attend. So most of the students hang out with each other. Also, since Punteranas is so small you usually run into at least one student. Yesterday, after meeting two girls on the beach. We all realized that we were going to the same christian revival they were holding in the plaza.
The staff at USAC is great too. It is easy to go and talk with them, and you don´t feel like there is an administrator and student boundary. Like obviously there is that boundary but, what I am trying to say is that they make you feel very welcome. They know everyone on a personal level. Everyone here is very laid back.
