The Ballot

As you know I am taking computer graphics this semesters. One of the first assignments was how to create images in illustrator. The discussion centered around CYMK vs. RGB colors, san serif font and how to use illustrator. Draw a box, next learn how to manipulate the pen tool to draw a check, once we started typing the letters I realize immediately what we were creating.

The professor spent not more than 5 minutes total discussing implications of elections. The professors are sure not to open pandora's box but they definitely make mention of it. However, I welcome this discussion in my class. Why are elections important? What is the role of citizen participation in urban planning? What is the planner's role in distribution of goods and resources? As we consider the implication of planners in development of communities I think its important to create spaces with folks from different backgrounds can discuss implications of urban planning and policy.
