Blue Wave
Every spring LEAP hosts Blue Week at Pratt. LEAP is a group of environmental conscious students who work to increase awareness about how certain human behaviors harms the earth. This year, LEAP installed a huge plastic wave outside Center for Career development. The sculpture was entirely made of potential recycle plastics that had found their way into Pratt's garbage.
The idea is intriguing how much plastic do you use in a week? How much is recycle and how much can be avoided? This sculpture was very impressive, it was about 4 feet wide and over 6 feet tall. I love the installation but I also wanted to know which students used the various gallons of milk? (I think some of this trash was just from the Student Union and Cafeteria.) I think we might could create at least one more wave if we really included the dorms, labs and other halls.
