Fresh Vegetables

The other downer this winter was no abundance of great veggies. The more fresh veggies
one eats... the more bland veggies taste well bland.

This winter, I realized how much I rely on tomatoes in my cooking. The supermarkets near me went through a bad spell. We had no fresh low priced tomatoes during the last weeks of winter. First they tried to entice us with very pale looking roman tomatoes for 1.49 lb. Then, they found some bruised and over ripen beef tomatoes to sell for 1.99 lb (I believe).

I think my fellow shoppers and I grudgingly brought the overprice cherry and grape tomatoes. I say this because when I finally did buy tomatoes I had to check to see that I didn't have any spoil ones in my container.

P.S. - If you do end up with pale unripen tomatoes. Buy them at a low price and allow them to ripe on your kitchen counter.
