Organic??
As a sustainable gardener, who is conscious of the world eco-systems as well as my health I am concerned about spreading GMO seeds. Grow good food today so we can have a good diets tomrrow. So, with this midset I write this post.
As we shop, and eat, and grow and eat do we consider the word organic? Firstly, we must define what it means as a grower for a plant to be organic. If it means that one simply didn't use pesticides, then does that really address the impact of GMOs or even fertilizers that damage our ecosystems. Thus, by enlarging the definition to plants that were grown chemical free... then plants grown using this fertilizer to enhanced the plants growth... that technically its not organic. So, if I grow my peppers from seed, not using any chemical fertilizers or pesticides are they organic? Does organic equal sustainable?
Does an organic, sustainable product equal accessible? As a consumer what does organic mean to us? If one consumes oatmeal raisin cookies, in which the two raisins where organic that cook could be consider organic. What about Snapple and it's all natural juices. Does that mean that the fruits were "organic" or does it just mean that its only fruit juice? Are all Snapple's 100 and only fruit juice?
One can truly go crazy... trying to be organic. Why am I even trying to eat organic does that mean its necessarily healthier?
