Apostolic Pumpkins

With Fall comes pumpkin pies, pumpkin spice latte's and jack-o-laterns. If you read any of my past blogs about pumpkin and American culture we've established this. But what's a mom to do?

So, its fall, all the teachers are bring in pumpkins for art n' craft. Pumpkins to make candles, jack-o-laterns, volcanos, signs and much more. Los of ideas just search on www.pinterest.com.  Well, as I watch parents coly refuse to bring home their 2nd child's 3rd pumkin- I was thinking... all this food being thrown away! Why not cook it.

Surprisingly, one of the youngest members of my church little flock brought a huge pumpkin to church. As an Apostolic community we don't celebrate Halloween. His mother was baffled when he brought home such a large pumpkin. The directress of the Little Flock was hesitant to do a project with the kids and the pumpkin, then I suggested we cook it. The only idea for Ayon's pumpkin was pumpkin pie. However, I thought of my soup. Nah, it wasn't a seller... So, little Ayon and his cousin march around with his pumpkin gathering ideas from his elders.

His list included:

Pumpkin Pie
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Mac'n Trees
Pumpkin cake(pumpkin bread)
Pumpkin  in Butternut Squash Soup

With such a large pumpkin, Ayon's settled for Pumpkin Pie, Seeds and pumpkin bread. What are some other ways we can use pumpkin?
